Ruidoso Calendar — SPENCER THEATER
Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts
The Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts opened in the fall of 1997, creating at that time a new, year-round venue for world-class performances in theater, music and dance. The Spencer is an aristocrat among theaters, a $22-million dollar structure which is splendid and elegant, while still retaining a sense of the intimate. At the heart of the Spencer Theater is a 514-seat hall where you’ll encounter a powerful experience of the performing arts — outstanding acoustics, intimate seating, and world acclaimed artistry of the highest caliber.
Designed by Albuquerque architect Antoine Predock, the building by itself is a considerable work of art reminiscent of pyramids, mountain peaks, and sci-fi star cruisers. Faced in 450 tons of Spanish mica-flecked limestone, the theater features a waterfall gently cascading from the core of the white wedge-shaped structure and a crystal lobby jutting from the north side like a cut and polished diamond.
Located on Airport Road - Highway 220 in Alto, New Mexico the Theater features the 514, a beautiful lobby and lobby bar, private dining facilities and board rooms. Don’t miss your opportunity to visit this year round venue for world class performances in theater, music and dance.
